Description
With 23 superb new versions of classics by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne, Looking Into You begins with Don Henley's version of "These Days" and continues with Bonnie Raitt and David Lindley's cover of "Everywhere I Go," Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa's "Linda Paloma," and J.D. Souther's "My Opening Farewell." Bruce Hornsby takes on the title track to Browne's 1993 LP I'm Alive, and Lyle Lovett contributes two gems: the piano ballad "Rosie" and "Our Lady of the Well." Lucinda Williams digs into "The Pretender," while other female greats heard from include Shawn Colvin ("Call It a Loan"), Joan Osborne ("Late for the Sky"), Indigo Girls ("Fountain of Sorrow"), and Karla Bonoff ("Something Fine"). Equally stellar are Keb' Mo' with "Rock Me on the Water," Ben Harper with "Jamaica Say You Will," Bob Schneider with "Running on Empty," and Nickel Creek's Sean and Sara Watkins with "Your Bright Baby Blues."

"Features an admirably even blend of new artists, grizzled veterans, famous faces and cult favorites."Ultimate Classic Rock

"Browne grew from songwriter-for-hire to one of America's signature performers in the 1970s to an enduring influence on subsequent generations of musicians. The scope of musicians the 'Running on Empty' writer has inspired starts to become clear on 'Looking Into You'. The compilation also features Don Henley and Blind Pilot on 'These Days.' The song is a great example of Browne's versatility: he wrote the tune as a teenager, and Velvet Underground collaborator Nico first recorded it in 1967 for her album 'Chelsea Girls.' Gregg Allman cut a version on his 1973 solo album 'Laid Back,' the same year that Browne's own take on the song appeared on his second album, 'For Everyman.'"Wall Street Journal
