A cool, no-nonsense detective named Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) is assigned to protect a star witness, but before the night is out, the witness lies dying and Bullitt swears not to rest until the shooters—and the kingpin (Robert Vaughn) pulling their strings—are nailed. This 1968 film's car chase through San Francisco's steep hills is one of the most memorable in cinematic history and earned the film a well-deserved Oscar for editing. Frank Bullitt was a defining role in McQueen's illustrious career and he receives solid support from a young Robert Duvall, Jacqueline Bissett, and Norman Fell.
