Suspicion (1941) was the first Alfred Hitchcock-Cary Grant collaboration, and both are brilliant (even though Hollywood production codes compromised both Grant's character and Hitch's original ending). Joan Fontaine won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as a wallflower who suspects her handsome, charming, impecunious, playboy husband of having designs on her life. Adapted from a Patricia Highsmith novel, 1951's visually stunning and cleverly scripted Strangers on a Train stars Robert Walker and Farley Granger as a duo who become enmeshed in homicide after agreeing that each of their lives would be better off if a certain someone in them bit the dust. Trouble is, one of the pair is in deadly earnest. Hitch's daughter Patricia spins a minor role into gold. In I Confess (1953), Montgomery Clift stars as Father Michael Logan, a priest who hears about a murder in the confessional and must keep mum, even when he is suspected of the crime. And in The Wrong Man (1956), Henry Fonda plays a jazz musician mistaken for an armed robber; his attempts to clear himself are so fraught that his wife (Vera Miles) is driven to insanity.

"With one legitimate masterpiece (Strangers) and one underrated work (The Wrong Man) in the mix, along with … some fine bonus features, this bargain-stickered collection is a steal at twice the price."—DVD Verdict
